Sabrina Sanza

Italian soprano Sabrina Sanza has rapidly established herself as one of the most promising young lyric sopranos of her generation. Praised for the beauty of her timbre, her luminous upper register, refined musicianship and expressive artistry, she was awarded the Verdi Prize and Sixth Prize at the prestigious 2024 Francisco Viñas International Singing Competition, where critics particularly admired the elegance of her phrasing and her exquisite pianissimi. In 2025, she further confirmed her exceptional potential by winning the AsLiCo Competition.

Born in Naples in 1996, Sabrina Sanza began studying singing at the age of twelve with Giovanni Aprea before graduating with highest honours from the Conservatorio di Musica San Pietro a Majella in Naples under Daniela Del Monaco. Her artistic development has been enriched through participation in several of Italy’s leading young artist programmes, including the Teatro Coccia Academy in Novara, the Mascagni Opera Studio at Teatro Goldoni in Livorno, the Accademia del Belcanto Rodolfo Celletti in Martina Franca, Akademie BelCanto in Bad Wildbad and masterclasses at the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino.

Since September 2025, she has been a member of the prestigious Accademia Teatro alla Scala in Milan, marking another significant milestone in her rapidly developing international career.

Her forthcoming engagements include Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore at Teatro alla Scala, where she will also cover the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor, confirming her emergence as one of the most exciting young interpreters of the Italian bel canto repertoire, Orff’s Carmina Burana with the Teatro San Carlo di Napoli.

Recent highlights include her acclaimed role debut as Violetta in La traviata at the Teatro Duse in Bologna, Adina in L’elisir d’amore in Tokyo and on tour with AsLiCo, Gilda in Rigoletto at the Teatr Wielki – Polish National Opera in Warsaw, the Teatro Sociale di Como, Teatro Duse in Bologna and the Macerata Opera Festival, Frasquita in Carmen at the Teatro Petruzzelli in Bari, Eva in Haydn’s Die Schöpfung at the Festival della Valle d’Itria under the baton of Fabio Luisi, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi at the Teatro Coccia in Novara and Zerlina in Don Giovanni at the Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza.

Her repertoire also includes Monica in Menotti’s The Medium, Musetta in La bohème, Inès in Il trovatore, Tebaldo in Don Carlo and Idalide in Cimarosa’s La vergine del sole. On the concert platform she has performed Jommelli’s Requiem in Rome, Mozart’s Requiem in Como and appeared in the New Year’s Concert at the Teatro Verdi di Trieste under the direction of Fabrizio Maria Carminati.
