Romanas Kudriašovas
Lithuanian baritone Romanas Kudriašovas has established himself as one of the most distinctive lyric baritones of his generation, admired for the richness of his timbre, his elegant musicianship and his versatility across a wide repertoire ranging from Baroque opera to contemporary creations. The Telegraph described him as possessing “a voice with shades of Alan Rickman in speech and John Shirley-Quirk in song — that certainly catches the ear.”
During the 2026–2027 season, Romanas Kudriašovas appears as Manuel in Falla’s La vida breve and Ramiro in Ravel’s L’Heure espagnole and Demetrius in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Lithuanian National Opera.
During the 2025–2026 season, Romanas Kudriašovas appeared as Count Almaviva in Le nozze di Figaro in Palermo and created the leading role of Kastytis in the world premiere of Mykolas Natalevičius’ Jūratė in Vilnius. He also made notable role debuts as Pâris in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette at the Ópera de Tenerife and Figaro in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia with the Opéra de Toulon.
Recent highlights include his debut at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, where he appeared as the Commissioner in Madama Butterfly and Morales in Carmen, as well as his acclaimed Zurga in Bizet’s Les pêcheurs de perles with Opéra du Grand Sud.
His growing international career has taken him to many of Europe’s leading opera houses and festivals, including the Opéra National de Lyon, the Glyndebourne Festival, the Bergen International Festival, the Danish National Opera, the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, Vilnius City Opera, the Abu Dhabi Festival, the European Opera Centre, Sacred Opera Berlin, and the Hamburger Symphoniker.
His repertoire already encompasses a remarkable stylistic range. Among his principal roles are Count Almaviva (Le nozze di Figaro), Figaro (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Zurga (Les pêcheurs de perles), Prince Yeletsky (The Queen of Spades), Silvio (Pagliacci), Schaunard (La bohème), Frédéric (Lakmé), Pâris (Roméo et Juliette), Polyphemus (Acis and Galatea), together with appearances in works by Schreker, Barber, Rameau, Handel, Vivaldi, Weill and numerous contemporary composers.
Romanas Kudriašovas studied at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, the Wales International Academy of Voice, where he worked with Dennis O’Neill and Nuccia Focile, and the National Opera Studio in London. He further refined his artistry at the Georg Solti Accademia, studying with Leo Nucci, Barbara Frittoli and Richard Bonynge, and has participated in masterclasses with Dame Kiri Te Kanawa.
He is generously supported by the SIAA Foundation Liechtenstein, which accompanies the development of his international career.
With his distinctive vocal personality, refined musical style and an increasingly prominent presence on major European stages, Romanas Kudriašovas is rapidly establishing himself as one of the leading lyric baritones of his generation. His repertoire continues to expand towards the great Mozart, Rossini, French lyric and Slavic roles, confirming his place among today’s most exciting operatic artists.
