Artem Aleshin

Born in Moscow in 1999, Russian baritone Artem Aleshin graduated from the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in 2022, where he studied with Professor A. A. Loshak. Since 2021, he has been a member of the Mariinsky Theatre’s Young Opera Singers Academy, and since 2025 he has also been a soloist at the St. Petersburg Opera Theatre.

Aleshin’s recent engagements include Onegin in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin at the Sakha Opera and Ballet Theatre, the Saratov Opera and Ballet Theatre and the St. Petersburg Opera Theatre; Enrico in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor at Ural Opera Ballet and the St. Petersburg Opera Theatre; De Siriex and Kirill in Giordano’s Fedora at the Mariinsky Theatre; and Lescaut in Puccini’s Manon Lescaut at the Hermitage Theatre.

His repertoire also includes Valentin in Gounod’s Faust, Mercutio in Gounod’s Roméo et Juliette, Orlofsky in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Schaunard in Puccini’s La bohème, Mizgir in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Snow Maiden, Aleko in Rachmaninoff’s Aleko, and His Serene Highness in Tchaikovsky’s Cherevichki.

At the Mariinsky Theatre and the Opera for Everyone Festival in St. Petersburg, he has performed Andrey Shchelkalov in Mussorgsky’s Boris Godunov, the Hunter and the Matchmaker in Dvořák’s Rusalka, and the Messenger in Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Tale of Tsar Saltan. His other Mariinsky Theatre appearances include Filosofov in Zinaida, the Marquis in Verdi’s La traviata and the Lamplighter in The Story of Kai and Gerda.

His additional repertoire includes Yeletsky in Tchaikovsky’s The Queen of Spades, Robert and Ibn-Hakia in Iolanta, Silvio in Leoncavallo’s Pagliacci, the Venetian Guest in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Sadko, Tsarevich Afron in The Golden Cockerel and Fiorello in Rossini’s The Barber of Seville.

Artem Aleshin is distinguished by a remarkably broad and resonant voice, whose maturity and vocal amplitude are striking for a singer of his age. His rich, beautifully coloured timbre, effortless vocal production and secure, ringing top notes combine to create a compelling vocal presence. His impressive physical appearance and exceptional natural stage presence further distinguish him, revealing a rare degree of confidence, freedom and dramatic instinct for an artist at this stage of his career.
