Nadja Stefanoff

Soprano Nadja Stefanoff has established herself as one of the most exciting singing actresses of her generation. She was hailed at nothing less than “exceptional” for her last two debuts : at Oper Frankfurt in the title role of Giordano’s Fedora and at Deutsche Oper am Rhein as Marietta in Korngold’s Die tote Stadt.

These two roles add to an impressive gallery of portraits where Nadja amazes critics and public alike, with her warm and velvety voice, her gorgeous looks and her acting skills : Tosca, Manon Lescaut, Norma, Adriana Lecouvreur, Sieglinde / Walküre,  Countess  / Le Nozze di Figaro, Katja Kabanowa, Elisabetta / Maria Stuarda, Agathe / Der Freischütz, Cherubini’s Medée, Marta / Weinberg’s Die Passagierin (CD Naxos) that she sang at Finnish National Opera in Helsinki, the Deutsche Oper am Rhein, Brussels De Munt the Staatsoper in Stuttgart, Komische Oper Berlin, Staatsoperette in Dresden, Staatstheater in Kassel, Oper Bonn, the Gärtnerplatz Theater in Munich, Oper Graz, Landestheater Innsbruck….

Upcoming projects include Marschallin / Der Rosenkavalier in Mainz, the title role of Ariadne auf Naxos in Warsaw, the world premiere of Srnka’s Voice Killer at Theater an der Wien, Die tote Stadt in Bergen, Die Passagierin at Capitole de Toulouse.

Born in Chemnitz of Bulgarian origins, Nadja studied at the University and Staatsoper in Dresden. She was a member of the ensembles of Theater Erfurt, Theater Bremen, then the Staatstheater in Braunschweig. She joined the Staatstheater in Mainz in 2014, where she has since been a member of the ensemble.
