Léontine Maridat Zimmerlin
French mezzo-soprano Léontine Maridat-Zimmerlin has rapidly emerged as one of the most exciting young French singers of her generation. Praised for the richness of her timbre, her expressive musicality and her natural stage presence, she has already attracted attention through an impressive succession of competition successes, prestigious academy appointments and major professional debuts in both opera and recital.
A graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur Musique et Danse de Lyon, and a post graduate of the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris, she was nominated in the “Best Opera Newcomer” category at the 2026 Victoires de la Musique Classique, confirming her position among the most promising young artists on the French operatic scene.
An award-winning competitor, Léontine has distinguished herself in several international competitions, notably receiving prizes at the International French Song Competition of Gordes (2022), the George Enescu International Competition (2023), and the International Voice Competition of Clermont-Ferrand (2025). These achievements have rapidly opened the doors to leading opera houses and artistic institutions.
Her stage career began while still a student, when she appeared as Zweite Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Oreste in Offenbach’s La Belle Hélène. During the 2024–2025 season she sang Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro at the Philharmonie de Paris and made her international recital debut at the Teatro de la Maestranza in Seville with a programme devoted to the English Renaissance repertoire. Last season, as a member of the prestigious Académie de l’Opéra-Comique, she has appeared in several productions, including Gluck’s Merlin ou le renversement du monde, Auber’s Le Domino Noir and Diane in Iphigénie en Tauride. The coming seasons mark an important new chapter in her career with a series of significant role debuts across Europe. She will appear as Angelina in Rossini’s La Cenerentola for Reisopera, Annio in Mozart’s La clemenza di Tito in Limoges, the Grande Prêtresse in Rameau’s Hippolyte et Aricie at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in Paris, Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro in Tenerife. She will also return to the Opéra-Comique for Ravel’s L’Enfant et les sortilèges, singing La Tasse chinoise and La Chatte, before making one of the most eagerly anticipated debuts of her young career as Rosina in Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia at Opéra national du Rhin.
Alongside her operatic engagements, Léontine Maridat-Zimmerlin is developing an increasingly distinguished concert and recital career. She is supported by both the Sic Itur Ad Astra (SIAA) Foundation and the Fonds Tutti. In 2024, she appeared at the Fonds Tutti Gala Concert at Paris’s Théâtre de l’Athénée, singing in duo with internationally acclaimed artists Clémentine Margaine and Olga Bezsmertna.
