Egle Wyss

Lithuanian mezzo-soprano Egle Wyss has been acclaimed for her intense and dramatic performances in repertoire encompassing Verdi, Donizetti, Bellini, Wagner, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Strauss. Her recent engagements comprise her debut at Teatro alla Scala in Wagner’s Die Walküre, Charlotte Werther Teatro Comunale Sassari, Venus Tannhäuser at New National Theatre Tokyo , Jeanne d’Arc The Maid of Orléans for Domstufen-Festspiele Erfurt and Eboli Don Carlos at the Lithuanian National Opera, Latvian National Opera, Estonian National Opera.

Other recent engagements include Flosshilde Rheingold and Waltraute Die Walküre in Bologna , Romeo I Capuleti ed i Montecchi and Hänsel und Gretel in Vilnius, Olga Eugene Onegin,  Carmen in Klaipeda, Dorabella Così fan tutte in Verbier, Fenena Nabucco in Freiburg,

Upcoming engagements in 2025 include Mère Marie Dialogues des Carmélites in Santander, Flosshilde Götterdämnerung in Bologna, Azucena  Trovatore in Varna  Verdi’s Requiem in Tokyo international forum. In 2026 she will return to Teatro alla Scala for the revival of Die Walküre.

On the concert platform Ms Wyss’s has performed Beethoven Missa Solemnis with the Vilnius Philharmonic, Berlioz La Mort de Cléopâtre with the National Lithuanian Philharmonic and Elgar Music Makers in Colombia.

She has  recorded  Rigoletto with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Nadine Sierra (Outhere) and Simone Boccanegra awith Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Barbara Frittoli (Naxos, Grammy Award for best Opera Recording).

After studying in Vilnius and in  Milan, Egle won First prize at several  international competition including Giuseppina Cobelli, Capriolo in Fanciacorta, Antonina Campi, Poland ; the Special Prize City of Crema in Portofino and she was a finalist in the BBC Cardiff singer of the world.

She has also won the Lithuanian Golden Cross, the highest award for performing arts for her performances as Eboli , and the Lithuanian Opera Award – artist of the year in 2016.
