Lithuanian mezzo-soprano Eglė Wyss has established herself as one of the leading dramatic mezzos of her generation, acclaimed for the richness of her voice, her dramatic intensity and her commanding stage presence. Her repertoire spans Verdi, Wagner, Bellini, Donizetti, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Strauss, with particular acclaim for her portrayals of Verdi’s great heroines and Wagnerian roles.

In the 2025/26 season, she sings Carmen in Matera, Eboli (Don Carlo) at the Lithuanian National Opera, Flosshilde (Götterdämmerung) at the Teatro Comunale di Bologna, Grimgerde (Die Walküre) at Teatro alla Scala, Verdi’s Requiem in Sassari, and appears in concert in Bergamo, Vilnius and Tokyo.

Recent highlights include her La Scala debut in Wagner’s Die Walküre, Mère Marie (Dialogues des Carmélites) in Santander, Charlotte (Werther) at the Teatro Comunale di Sassari, Venus (Tannhäuser) at the New National Theatre Tokyo, Jeanne d’Arc (The Maid of Orleans) at the DomStufen-Festspiele Erfurt, and Eboli (Don Carlo) at the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian National Operas. She has also appeared as Azucena (Il trovatore) in Varna.

Other notable engagements include Flosshilde (Das Rheingold) and Waltraute (Die Walküre) in Bologna, Romeo (I Capuleti e i Montecchi) and Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel) in Vilnius, Olga (Eugene Onegin), Carmen in Klaipėda, Dorabella (Così fan tutte) at the Verbier Festival, and Fenena (Nabucco) in Freiburg.

An equally accomplished concert artist, Eglė Wyss has performed Beethoven’s Missa solemnis with the Lithuanian National Philharmonic, Berlioz’s La Mort de Cléopâtre with the same orchestra, and Elgar’s The Music Makers in Colombia.

Her discography includes Verdi’s Rigoletto with Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Nadine Sierra (Outhere), and Simone Boccanegra alongside Dmitri Hvorostovsky and Barbara Frittoli, a recording awarded the Grammy Award for Best Opera Recording.

After studying in Vilnius and Milan, Eglė Wyss won first prizes at several international competitions, including the Giuseppina Cobelli Competition, the Antonina Campi Competition, and received the Special Prize of the City of Crema at the Portofino International Competition. She was also a finalist at the BBC Cardiff Singer of the World competition. In her native Lithuania, she has received the Golden Cross of the Stage, the country’s highest distinction for performing artists, for her portrayal of Eboli, as well as the Lithuanian Opera Award – Artist of the Year.
