
In November 2019 at the Teatro Verdi of Trieste, Kristina Kolar made her debut as Turandot to rave reviews : “a spectacular Turandot” , “a large and important voice, with soaring high notes”, “the voice is homogeneous, flexible and focussed on all the tessiture” , ” a ductile and varied phrasing”, “(An artist) to be absolutely booked every season”…
Kristina Kolar is now one of the most brilliant soprano lirico-spinto and drammatico of her generation. She’s been a member of the Rijeka Opera since 1997. In 2010, she won the “Milka Trnina” award for the best operatic performance for the role of Santuzza in Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana. She also won 5 times the National Award for the best performance of the year for Aida, Tosca, Lady Macbeth, (Macbeth) Manon Lescaut and Donna Elvira ( Don Giovanni). She is a frequent guest of all major opera houses in Croatia (Croatian National Theatres in Zagreb, Rijeka, and Split), as well as in Slovenia, Italy, Czech Republic, Germany, Japan (on tour with Aida ).
Her repertoire includes the roles of Lady Macbeth, Manon Lescaut, Tosca, Aida, Santuzza, Turandot, Abigaille (Nabucco), Norma, Maddalena di Coigny (Andrea Chenier).
Recently she sang Nabucco in Prague and Trieste, Macbeth in Poznan, Aida in the Arena of Pola, Tosca in Fiume, Trieste, Udine and Zagreb.
In concert, she’s sung Verdi’s Requiem, Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, Mahler’s 2nd and 8th Symphony. She has also performed at the Shenzhen Concert Hall with the Shenzhen Philharmonics for UNESCO.
Among her discography, let’s mention 7 recordings of Croatian religious music, songs and operas with the Croatian Symphonic Orchestra (HRT), the Munich Radio Orchestra and CPO.
