Michèle Bréant & Gabriel Durliat

Soprano Michèle Bréant and pianist Gabriel Durliat met in 2023 at the Philippe Jaroussky Music Academy, where they were members of the Debussy promotion. Very quickly their musical and artistic understanding was born, for they both share a great love and taste for French music and the intimate repertoire of the lied.

They were the finalists of the 12th Nadia and Lili Boulanger Competition which took place in Paris in October 2023 and will participate in the residency dedicated to chamber music as part of the Royaumont Foundation next July, and supervised by Stéphane Degout and Cédric Tiberghien . Next year they will give several recitals mixing melody and lied, notably at the Maisonnettes, former home of the Boulanger sisters.

 

Born in 1999, Michèle Bréant  ‘s recent appearances include Euridice in Sartorio’s Orfeo conducted by Philippe Jaroussky and directed by Benjamin Lazare, Titania in Britten’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Taumännchen in Humperdinck’s Hänsel and Gretel at the Leipzig Opera, Bach’s St Matthew Passion at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw with La Petite Bande conducted by Sigiswald Kuijken.

This year, she will also sing Susanna /Le Nozze di Figaro at La Seine Musicale, Zerlina / Don Giovanni with ARCAL in a new production by Jean-Yves Ruf and conductor Julien Chauvin with Le Concert de la Loge. Born in 2001, Gabriel Durliat is one of the most brilliant and complete musicians of his generation.
After becoming the first Frenchman to win the international Piano Campus competition in February 2022, in May 2023 Gabriel Durliat won 2nd prize at the Hans von Bülow International Conducting from the Piano Competition in Meiningen (Germany), a rare competition devoted to conducting from the piano.

Gabriel Durliat performs regularly with orchestra, in recital and chamber music, and is invited to participate in prestigious events such as the Festival International de Piano de la Roque d’Anthéron, the Festival d’Auvers-sur-Oise, the Festival de Deauville, the Journées Ravel of Montfort-l’Amaury… More about Gabriel, click here…
