Rémi Durupt

Passionate and highly embedded in 20th and 21st century music thanks to his percussionist background, Remi Durupt knows how to create a singular and personal path as conductor, always open minded to every kind of musical projects, and eager to create bridges between different artistic forms and expressions.

He won the First Prize at « Antal Dorati’s Conducting Competition » in Budapest (Sept. 2021) and also at « Giancarlo Facchinetti » International Conducting Competition in Brescia 2018, and was selected by the Peter Eötvös Foundation’s Mentoring Program & Art Mentor Foundation Luzern. He was Peter Eötvös’ assistant with the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Berliner Philharmoniker.

Since he has conducted the Orchestre Symphonique and Lyrique of Paris, Danubia Obuda Orch.,Toulouse Wind Orch., Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau and Gürzenich Orch. Köln as well as many contemporary ensembles such as Linea, Umze, Dedalo, Impronta, Ars Nova. He co-founded Links, with which he recorded 3 albums for Kairos . The one dedicated to Steve Reich’s music was  awarded with a Diapason d’Or by the French critics.   

Recent performances include his debut with Orchestre National d’Ile-de-france at Théâtre du Châtelet in a program with Angélique Kidjo, Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians who created the acme of 2023 Présence Festival / Radio France,  Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker with Orchestre de chambre du Luxembourg, Les Noces / Stravinsky in the ballet version (choregraphed by Angelin Preljocaj), the world premiere of Les Sauvages / Hazebrouckin, La Vieille maison by Landowsky and Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress (voted best opera production in 2022 by the French critics) at Angers-Nantes Opera. With the Orchestre National de Bretagne, he recently gave the world premiere of Dai Fujikara’s Concerto for Shakuhachi, alongside Mendelssohn, Cras and Williams.

Future plans include La Sérénade by Sophie Gail in Rennes, Das Lied von der Erde with Orchestre de Cambre de la Drôme, Dear World by Hermann at Angers Nantes Opera.
