Daniel Montanè – Manon Lescaut – Malaga

A grand finale for the 35th season of the Teatro Cervantes in Malaga with “Manon Lescaut”, Puccini’s first great success, in a production conducted by Daniel Montané and directed by Pier Francesco Maestrini. On a musical level, Puccini’s exuberant orchestration, voluptuous and very emotional, is evident both for the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra, under the brilliant musical direction of maestro Daniel Montané, and for all the soloists.

« The extensive experience as opera artists of the creative team responsible for this production of Manon Lescaut by Giacomo Puccini, the last opera performed in the 2023/2024 lyrical season at the Teatro Cervantes in Malaga, has resulted in the excellence of a show in which it has been possible to enjoy of one of the most exciting titles by the great musician from Lucca, which meant the first full presence of the creative voice of this composer, absolute master of verismo. Both the person in charge of the orchestra, conductor Daniel Montané, and stage director Pier Francesco Maestrini, have found that conjunction of expressive thought that has made good Puccini’s conviction to highlight in this opera the passion of love understood as an aesthetic element of concentrated breath and common thread of the development of this representation.

To achieve this approach, the Malaga Philharmonic Orchestra has participated, which demonstrated great agility in achieving the delicate melodies that reflected the different climates that this work requires, adapting effectively to the theatrical mood of each moment, thus noticing how the maestro Montané took care of the orchestral color resulting from the very dense instrumentation included in the score »
