Mikhail Biryukov

Russian bass-baritone Mikhail Biryukov owns a voice of natural  beauty, power and seduction.

In September 2022, he joined the ensemble of the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden where he sang Schwarz / Meistersinger von Nürnberg, Monterone / RigolettoOryx and Crake, Surin / Queen of Spades, Tschekunow / From the House of the dead, Zuniga / Carmen and High Priest / Nabucco with Anna Netrebko.

During the 2023-2024 season, he will be singing Montano / Otello, Un Frate / Don Carlo, Reinmar von Zweter / TannhäuserLady Macbeth von Mtzensk

Mikhail graduated from the Galina Vishnevskaya Opera Centre in Moscow, where he studied with Elena Zaremba. From 2013 to 2016 he performed there all the main parts of his repertoire (Méphisto /Faust, Leporello and Don Giovanni, Escamillo / Carmen , Le Nozze di Figaro, Colline / Bohème, Conte Rodolfo/ Sonnambula, King René/ Iolantha, Gremin / Eugen Onegin, Malyuta Skuratov / The Tsar’s Bride...)

He made his concert debut in 2016 at the Moscow International House of Music with the London Handel Orchestra, and has since performed with orchestras such as Moscow Virtuosi Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra, Tyumen Philharmonic Orchestra and conductors Vladimir Spivakov, Luciano Acocella,  Alessandro d’Agostin,  Dmitry Jurowski, Gennady Dmitryak, Evgeny Shestakov.

Since 2020, Mikhail has been studying at the Royal College of Music Opera Studio as a post-graduate. Alsp there her performed on stage the parts of Garibaldo / Rodelinda, Don Alfonso / Cosi Fan Tutte and Sprecher / Zauberflöte. He also recorded for Opera Studio Don Giovanni and Calchas / Belle Hélène.

Mikhail is the  winner of many vocal competitions including : Grand Prix of the International Singing Competition “Margarita Landa” ; 1st Prize Laureate of the International Vocal Art Competition “Timbre” ; 1st Prize Laureate of the International Vocal Art Competition “Golden Ratio” :  Winner of Vocalists Competition “Kammeroper Schloss Rainsberg 2020”.
