Rémi Durupt

Passionate and highly embedded in 20th and 21st century music thanks to his percussionist background, Remi Durupt knows how to create a singular and personal path as a conductor, always open minded to every kind of musical projects, and eager to create bridges between different artistic forms and expressions.
Rémi won the First Prize at the 2021 Antal Dorati’s Conducting Competition » in Budapest and also at the 2018 Giancarlo Facchinetti International Conducting Competition in Brescia. He was selected by the Peter Eötvös Foundation’s Mentoring Program & Art Mentor Foundation Luzern and was Peter Eötvös’ assistant with the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Berliner Philharmoniker.
Since he has conducted the Orchestre Symphonique and Lyrique of Paris, Danubia Obuda Orch.,Toulouse Wind Orch., Anhaltische Philharmonie Dessau and Gürzenich Orch. Köln as well as many contemporary ensembles such as Linea, Umze, Dedalo, Impronta, Ars Nova. He co-founded Links, with which he recorded 3 albums for Kairos . The one dedicated to Steve Reich’s music was awarded with a Diapason d’Or by the French critics.
Recent performances include his debut with Orchestre National d’Île-de-France at the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris with a program with Angélique Kidjo, Reich’s Music for 18 Musicians, Gail’s La Sérénade in Rennes, Das Lied von der Erde with Orchestre de Chambre de la Drôme, Fauré’s Requiem with the Orchestre d’Epinal, Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker with Orchestre de chambre du Luxembourg, Les Noces / Stravinsky in the ballet version (choregraphed by Angelin Preljocaj), the world premiere of Les Sauvages / Hazebrouckin, La Vieille Maison by Landowsky and Stravinsky’s The Rake’s Progress (voted best opera production in 2022 by the French critics) at Angers-Nantes Opera. With the Orchestre National de Bretagne, he recently gave the world premiere of Dai Fujikara’s Concerto for Shakuhachi, alongside Mendelssohn, Cras and Williams.
Future plans include his debut with Orchetsre Nationale de Metz Grand Est in concerts with Beethoven, Prokofiev and Chin symphonic music, concerts with the Orchestre National d’Île-de-France with Keziah Jones at La Seine Musicale, with the Orchestre Colonne at the Piano Festival sur la ville, with ARS NOVA (Concert Philippe Do in Paris, and Arvo Pärt in Poitiers), with Links (Concert Steve Reich in Perpignan and Paris ), with Alba Regia Orchestra in Szekesvehervar, with Multilatérale in Mallorca. Rémi will also conduct the world premiere of Markeas with Orchestre de Chambre de la Drôme at Paris Philharmonie, and then in tour in France, Das Lied von der Erde in Paris.
Rémi will also be a member of the jury of the International Geneva Competition for Conductors in 2026.
