Tomas Dalton

Tomas Dalton studied voice and piano at the Melbourne Conservatorium before undertaking further study in Italy as the recipient of the Acclaim Awards Italian Opera Fellowship and the Johnson Bequest. Tomas also won the AOAC Opera Award in 2020.

He has been critically acclaimed for his « commanding » and « refined » tenor performances, and his « attractive voice and warmth of tone ».

In 2023/2024 he sang Alfredo / Traviata at Opera Australia, and Malcolm / Macbeth for Adelaide Opera.

In 2024/2025 he will be singing Verdi’s Requiem in Melbourne, The lover / Tabarro and Rinuccio / Gianni Schicchi at Opera Australia.

Tomas has recently sung Alfredo Germont / La Traviata and Tamino / Die Zauberflöte for  Opera Australia, Malcolm / Macbeth for State Opera South Australia, The Witch / Hänsel & Gretel, Pinkerton / Madama Butterfly for The Stonnington Classics.

He has covered both  Rodolfo / La Bohème and Pinkerton on Sydney Harbour. Earlier experiences with Opera Australia include  roles such as  Nathanaël / The Tales of Hoffmann, an Apprentice /  Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg, the Fourth Jew / Salome, the Second Noble / Lohengrin.

Tomas has also performed Tony Candolino in the Australian tour of Terrence McNally’s Master Class, and sang  in the world premieres of Ioannidis’s Women in War and Kats-Chernin’s Whiteley.

Tomas’ concert repertoire includes Mozart’s Requiem, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Puccini’s Messa di Gloria, Handel’s Solomon, Bach’s Magnificat, Verdi’s Requiem, and Haydn’s Paukenmesse, and he has toured Australia, Germany, Denmark, and France as a soloist with the Australian Chamber Choir.
